Ultramarine Pigment Locket

from $145.00

My handcrafted shaker lockets are filled with fine artist pigments. Each locket measures about 13mm wide and 22mm tall including the bail.

ULTRAMARINE is a blue pigment originally made using a stone called lapis lazuli. It was first mined in the third millennium BCE in what is now Afghanistan and required a rigorous, expensive process to refine the lapis into the correct-shaped and sized particles to get that brilliant blue color. Today, ultramarine can still be made from lapis but a synthetic version exists that makes this color much more accessible. You may recognize this color as Yves Klein’s trademark blue or from the Blue Man Group.

Handcrafted to order, please allow up to 8 weeks for your pigment jewelry to be made.

You can add chains or earring findings here if desired. Make sure to get two lockets if you plan to have a pair of earrings made.

Note: I can make these lockets with any material inside. Contact me if you would like a different pigment used. If you have your own object (other than pigment) that you would like put in a locket, please reach out here.
