Shaker lockets

Any object or material small enough (8mmx8mmx2mm or smaller) can be enclosed in a shaker locket.

If you are looking for a pendant containing your own sentimental material, you may send your material to my studio and I will fill the lockets here. These can commemorate any special moment, memory, person, or animal. I can work with any solid material of your choice, and you can be as creative as you’d like. Material suggestions: Cremation ash, hair, small teeth, fibers from clothing or carpets, sand or soil from sentimental locations, dried flowers, seeds, and almost anything else you can think of!

Please note that the lockets have one chamber. Multiple materials will mix together. If you wish to keep them separate, please purchase separate lockets. Animal whiskers are best suited for the vial pendant design because of their tapered, stiff structure.

Material restrictions: I do not make round lockets with whiskers inside, as they spring outward when wrapped into a circle shape and will not be visible, and I want you to be happy with what you receive from me. I do not mix hair and ash (or other powdered materials) in the same locket, because the ash will cling to the hair and make it dusty. It doesn’t look very nice and I want you to end up with a piece you think is beautiful and will treasure forever — but you can always wear two charms on the same chain if you’d like to order two lockets, or have one made now and one made later. Ash is suitable to use with hard/solid items like gemstones, etc. if you are looking for an alternative to mixing hair and ash.

If you do not have all of the materials you want (i.e. you would like to add a gemstone or something else) please note that in the order form. These items can be purchased from a site like Etsy and shipped directly to my studio. I’ll reply with my mailing info, you’ll place your order for your items through whoever you’d like, and just input my address at checkout. Make sure you know the measurement of the item(s) before you have the package sent. Any leftover material will be sent to you with your finished jewelry.

If you are looking to add an item like a squirrel tooth, ammonite, etc. from my studio in addition to your own sentimental items, please reach out before placing your locket order so I can make sure I have the item and set it aside for you. When ordering a custom locket, you must mail your material(s) to my studio for your project to be completed. I do not sell empty lockets, they require special tools to close and will be crimped closed permanently. Fine jewelry (any fine jewelry, not just my designs) should not be worn when bathing or during high-impact activities to ensure they do not get lost or damaged. Your locket will ship with care instructions and a super soft polishing cloth to keep it looking great for generations. Any unused materials will be returned to you with your finished project.

When your locket is done, I will send a notification via email and you can add a chain or earrings before checking out. Payment is accepted via credit card or AfterPay and any leftover materials will be returned to you with your finished locket.
