Paris Green Pigment Locket
Paris Green Pigment Locket
My handcrafted shaker lockets are filled with fine artist pigments. Each locket measures about 13mm wide and 22mm tall including the bail.
PARIS GREEN is a highly toxic pigment containing arsenic and copper first manufactured in 1814, but don’t worry — the pigment in the locket is an imperceptible imitation. The color was invented in Germany by the Wilhelm Dye and White Lead Company in an attempt to make a more stable version of Scheele’s green. It was named Paris green in 1867 and was used as the first chemical insecticide in the world, also widely used in bookbinding. This color is no longer produced with the original contents and has been replaced by a safer version.
Handcrafted to order, please allow up to 8 weeks for your pigment jewelry to be made.
You can add chains or earring findings here if desired. Make sure to get two lockets if you plan to have a pair of earrings made.
Note: I can make these lockets with any material inside. Contact me if you would like a different pigment used. If you have your own object (other than pigment) that you would like put in a locket, please reach out here.
