Han Purple Pigment Locket

from $145.00

My handcrafted shaker lockets are filled with fine artist pigments. Each locket measures about 13mm wide and 22mm tall including the bail.

HAN PURPLE is a pigment from ancient China, developed in the Western Zhou period around 1045–771 BCE. It appears blue/purple but is actually a non-spectral color somewhere between red and violet. Similarly to Egyptian blue, this pigment was synthesized by ancient peoples using advanced technology and methods that have since been lost to time. Han purple was most famously used to decorate the Terracotta Army.Handcrafted to order, please allow up to 8 weeks for your pigment jewelry to be made.

You can add chains or earring findings here if desired. Make sure to get two lockets if you plan to have a pair of earrings made.

Note: I can make these lockets with any material inside. Contact me if you would like a different pigment used. If you have your own object (other than pigment) that you would like put in a locket, please reach out here.
