Gofun Pigment Locket
Gofun Pigment Locket
My handcrafted shaker lockets are filled with fine artist pigments. Each locket measures about 13mm wide and 22mm tall including the bail.
GOFUN is a white pigment from Japan originally dating to the 12th century. It is traditionally made by bleaching shells from the Itabo oyster in the sun for about a dozen years. The shells then undergo a rigorous crushing and refining process using a stone mill, resulting in a powder. Gofun is most widely mixed with glue and used as a surface preparation or undercoating, similar to gesso or primer, mixed with colorful paints to lighten them, and used in the making of dolls, masks, signage, and nail polish.
Handcrafted to order, please allow up to 8 weeks for your pigment jewelry to be made.
You can add chains or earring findings here if desired. Make sure to get two lockets if you plan to have a pair of earrings made.
Note: I can make these lockets with any material inside. Contact me if you would like a different pigment used. If you have your own object (other than pigment) that you would like put in a locket, please reach out here.
