Birds In Jars

$65.00

Exactly what it sounds like. Birds in jars.

Naturally deceased budgerigars (aka parakeets in US vernacular) raised by a friend of a friend in Wisconsin, professionally preserved and stabilized. I don’t share my sources BUT I can assure you they were very loved and they all died of natural causes — either old age, illness, or injury. Since these life experiences tend to take a physical toll on the birds, they are not always suitable for taxidermy by the end of their lives. When this happens I turn them into wet specimens using a series of chemical injections and baths.

I will pick a bird for you and package it inside of the jar with no liquid. When it arrives, fill the jar with 70% isopropyl alcohol (no other percentage). If you do not have alcohol on hand at the time of arrival, you can stick the whole thing in your freezer until you are ready.

The jars are 16 ounces and the birds take up some space, so one container of alcohol should do ya. I buy mine at Target because it’s the cheapest I have found per ounce, but if you find somewhere better please let me know so I can share that info with everyone!

Jars included. Cost includes package insurance. Keep away from heat, flames, and direct sunlight.

No color requests. I promise what you get will be beautiful!
